If you have a doctor's prescription, purchasing your hot tub may be used as deductible medical equipment. .

Remember the most important condition is a written recommendation from your doctor.

Use the IRS Publication 502; it covers medical expenses. Medical expenses are the costs of diagnosis, cure, mitigation, treatment, or prevention of disease, and the costs for treatments affecting any part or function of the body. These include the costs of equipment, supplies, and diagnostic devices needed for these purposes. Note: the medical expenses must not be used as a general benefit, but must be used to alleviate or prevent a physical.
